Holroyd Ferris Chambers❤️Audrey Ronald Scott.

Such a beautiful quality photo, they look a lovely couple. This one was among three small job lots of Wedding photos that I bought recently from one seller on eBay.

There were just a few that have a name or names and this is one, it says in pencil on the back ’Holroyd F Chambers’.

I put the name into Ancestry and very quickly found several results, adding them to a new tree on Ancestry it was amazing how fast I was able to find his bride and also their parents.

Not every day you see father’s occupation as a Knight on a marriage certificate!

The marriage was on 6 Mar 1930 at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, Kensington, London.

1939 Register with the couple staying at his parents home at 12 Hyde Park Place.

Hyde Park Place is the very large building on the right in this photo from Google Street (2009).

The groom Holroyd Ferris Chambers was born on 9 January 1902 in Chertsey, Surrey, the son of Georgina and Walter.

Roy, as he was known, died on 24 May 1977 at The Cottage, Rushlake Green, Heathfield, East Sussex.

The Bride was Audrey Ronald Scott, who was born on 2 June 1906. She was the daughter of Grace and William.

Audrey died on 6 April 1989 in Eastbourne, Sussex, at the age of 82.

The couple had two children: a daughter, Anne and a son, Quinton.

This tribute was from the Times Newspaper.

While I was having a little break from researching one morning I decided to scan the last of the three lots that I had bought. To my surprise I came across a brilliant full length photo of this same couple, I was really chuffed and it had no names on the back, so if it had been separated from the collection no one would have known who they were.

Roy & Audrey look fabulous, love the spats.

I’ve only made a small family tree for the couple and while researching them I came across a couple of lovely old photos of the family on public family trees on Ancestry.

What a gorgeous photo of Holroyd Ferris Chambers as a baby with his mother and older brother from a public tree on Ancestry.

Roy‘s mother was Georgina Maria Sandeman 1874-1960. She became Lady Chambers after her husband, Walter Theodore Gervase Chambers. Roy’s father was made a Sir on 3 June 1918; he was Controller of the National War Savings Committee. “For services in connection with the War”.

Roy’s brother was Theodore Gervase Sandeman Chambers (1897-1989). He married Lilian Thérése Victoria Bellamy (1897-1986) in 1921, and they emigrated to Canada after their marriage.

A beautiful photo of Grace MacOwen nee Pullar with Audrey Scott as a little girl standing on the chair, Michael MacOwan and Norman Bennett from a public tree on Ancestry.

Grace Pullar was Audrey Scott’s maternal Grandmother. Grace had married Rev James MacOwen in about 1866, and their daughter, Grace Edith MacOwen, married William Robert Wilson Ronald Scott. The couple just had one daughter, Audrey Ronald Scott.
