UPDATE on Frances Phillip Bedingfeld

UPDATE 2nd June 2016

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a lovely chap called Mark from Burke’s Peerage, he had spotted my blog about Francis Phillip Bedingfeld and knew the descendants.

So after several emails back and forth, and direct correspondence with Sir Alastair, this lovely CDV is now returned to its family.

And I have had a charming email back from Sir Alastair Buchan-Hepburn, that he has safely received the above CDV of his wife’s ancestor.

Part here “I am most grateful to you for finding this old photo of Francis Phillip Bedingfeld from whom my wife has her line of descent—and now my 4 children and 8 grandchildren too–They are all thrilled that this record with a photograph is within our family—A treasure for us.
My wife Lady Georgina Elizabeth Buchan-Hepburn’s grandmother was a Bedingfeld.  So it is a valuable record for us as a family.”

Sir Alastair Buchan-Hepburn also gave me this extra information about his family ………..
Patrick Buchan-Hepburn was made Lord Hailes before he became Governor General of the West Indies  He was chief Whip for Winston Churchill and MP for East Toxteth and also Beckenham, Kent he served in the cabinet with Anthony Eden and Macmillan when they were prime minister—after the west Indies he was chairman for the Ancient monuments for UK.”

More info about the family…..
Sir (John) Alastair Trant Kidd Buchan-Hepburn, 7th Baronet (born 1931) is the present holder of the The Buchan-Hepburn Baronetcy, of Smeaton-Hepburn in the County of Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland.
He married Georgina Elizabeth Turner on 21st September 1958 and they have four children Caroline, Sarah, John (known as Christopher) and Louise.
Sir Alastair Trant Kidd Buchan-Hepburn was the company director of Broughton Brewery Limited in Biggar, Lanarkshire.

I found this wonderful family story in the Scotsman, dated 2002 concerning Sir Alastair’s father  Lt John Buchan-Hepburn and the story of the flags, amazing heroic tale.
